Mastermind Murray recruits 6 criminals, having planned a perfect crime. The plan is to take over Lake Havasu City, a small, model community, cutting them off from the outside world and raiding the banks and stores of all their cash. Egan is the gruff police chief whose wife Hyer wants him to quit. He stands up for his duty when the shooting starts. Neat ironic ending caps a clever thriller that gains from filming in real locations. The gang don't hold back when violence is needed with Egan the only one to stand up to them, in a parallel to “High Noon”. The plan seems to be brilliant and foolproof until that reveal at the end.
