Plötzlich Türke (2016)

Things couldn't be going better for young musician Jim from Hanover: his girlfriend Jule is expecting a baby, the couple have found a great new apartment and he and his band are about to sign a contract with a record company in England. But after a visit to the authorities, Jim's world is suddenly turned upside down: he is Turkish and his German papers are therefore invalid. Jim believes he has made a mistake and embarks on an increasingly absurd odyssey through various offices. When nothing works any more, he decides to get Turkish papers from the Turkish consulate in order to become German again. All he has to do is find his Turkish father Mustafa. He disappeared from his mother Ingrid's life when Jim was still a baby. "Plötzlich Türke" is based on the true experiences of Cem Fertig, who was declared a Turk by the German authorities and fought for years to get his German citizenship back.
