Emin Hüseynov (born December 1997, Baku) is Azerbaijani self-taught filmmaker who believes real cinema cannot be taught in school. For him, true filmmaking is a genetic trait, shaped and sharpened by life experiences and their impact on the brain. He graduated from Azerbaijan State Economic University. His first short film, Obsession Kills. (2022), was shot in a car wash garage using money he saved from his first job as sales. His filmography includes Obsession Kills. (2022) and no-budget short films: Miss (2024), TSTS: The Comics (2024), Nostalgia of Everything (2024), Days, Months, Years and Nothing Else (2024). His films often focus on building atmosphere and aim to convey a lot within a short runtime through different storytelling. Hüseynov is influenced by Gaspar Noé, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Nuri Bilge Ceylan. He was introduced to cinema through Hollow Man (still his all-time favorite film), and considers Inception the greatest film ever made. For many years, he only watched horror movies, until his mother recommended Léon, which opened the door to other genres. He is currently working as an accountant to save money for his next short film "The Heart of the Warlord". (01.02.2025)
